Week 2: June 29th – July 3rd
“Soaring Over Auburn”
Children discover the wonders of things that fly by experimenting with making their own kites, model airplanes, and other flying creations, and then flying them at the park! Outings: Hart's Gym & The Museum of Flight.
Week 3: July 6th – July 10th
“Say Cheese Photo Adventure”
Children learn about the art of photography as they get a chance to take pictures galore--of friends, of activities, of natures, of art!l They create a scrapbook of their pictures from the week, and participate in games and activities relating to picture taking! Outings: Hart's Gym & The Woodland Park Zoo.
Week 4: July 13th – July 17th
“Get Wet Water Zone Splash”
Water, water everywhere--water field games, group water relay activities, and water projects galore! Children also explore creatures that swim in the ocean, get really wet at the sprinkler park, enjoy a water balloon toss, and participate in our first annual Auburn Gateway Luau. Outings: Hart's Gym & Dash Point Park Beach.
Week 5: July 20th – July 24th
“Now Filming in Studio 1”
Children are part of the creative process of making a movie! They participate in script writing, scene making, acting, directing, and filming! At the end of the week children get to watch the movie ona our big screen and take home their own copy to enjoy with family and friends! Outings: Hart's Gym & The Supermall Movie Theaters.
Week 6: July 27th - July 31st
“Let the Outdoor Games Begin!”
This may not be a summer Olympic year for the world, but it is at Auburn Gateway! Children create their own Olympic flag to fly for the week, their own team song and skit, and participate in Gateway Olympic activities, such as the limbo contest, three legged races, scavenger hunts and more! Outings: Hart's Gym & A Minor League Baseball Game
(families invited!).
Week 7: August 3rd – August 7th
“X Marks the Spot Dig and Find!”
Children dig in a huge sand pit to find different "treasures" throughout the week, as they discover how archaelogists find artifacts. They also get to create and "fossilize" their own special artifcats. Outings: Hart's Gym & the Tacoma Children's Museum.
Week 8: August 10th – August 14th
“Lights, Camera, Action Movie Making!”
Children’s “inner star” shines this week as they have chances to be the directors, costumers, set designers, script writers, and actors in a play. The week will culminate in children being in their very own Auburn Gateway original production (family and friends are invited to come and watch). Outing: Hart's Gym.
Week 9: August 17th – August 21st
“Jump and Jive Musical Experience!”
Children explore music that makes them feel, move, jump, and laugh! They learn about different types of music, and get to play and record their own songs and music and present it to their friends on a C.D. Outings: Hart's Gym & The Experience Music Project.
Week 10: August 24th – August 28th
“Lemonade for Sale Business Adventure!”
Children create their own stock of projects--braceletspuppets, wooden cars, etc.-- to sell to each other, and then set up a "store" to set up market in. They use practice money and get experience in banking, pricing, sales, making change, tax!, etc. Outings: Hart's Gym & The Pacific Science Center.
